Help Me To Stop Drinking
Do you feel that you really want to stop drinking and are asking yourself “How can I“?
Have you really had enough of the self loathing after waking up from another forgotten night?
Lost relationships, jobs, friends and respect for yourself in favour of keeping your drinking habit going?
Have you tried to give up your addiction before but found you keep going back to it and are looking for some help to stop?
Is your aim to stop the binging and become a social drinker but think that if you get some help it means that you have to give up alcohol forever rather than to go back to social drinking?
If you are having any of these thoughts then this is the right place for you and I am glad that you have found my website.
My view is that people do not get into a habit of problem drinking if they are getting all their needs met. Happy, fulfilled people do not need to escape by drinking to excess. “But it is the culture, everyone drinks to be sociable nowadays don’t they” I hear people say. Sort of I would respond, but if excess drinking robs you of relationships, time, respect etc. etc. something really is not right is it?
So having found each other, and if you are really serious about making those changes you are been telling yourself you want to make, I can help you with that. I cannot do the painful stuff for you. I cannot work miracles. I cannot promise you it will be quick. I can’t promise you that I won’t challenge you when you don’t want to be challenged. What I can do is offer you Hope that it will be ok. I can offer to show you the way to deal with this problem drinking and I can stand beside you as you figure out how and why you got addicted to alcohol (or anything else) in the first place.
So if you are still with me why don’t you read on and see how I can help………….
This website is intentionally brief and plain speaking as I believe a wider search of the internet will provide you with much information and views on the subject should you seek it. It is also brief because I know you are probably the expert in most issues surrounding your problem drinking. One important question however you might still have lingering is:
How is being a problem drinker different from being addicted to alcohol? Problem drinking is when you at least have some knowledge and control of your drinking habits, be they everyday or what is now commonly known as “binge” drinking. Problem drinking can, and does, so easily slip into addiction where you and those around you find you have little control over it and alcohol becomes the focus of your life. Both can not only destroy your life but those around you. It is so easy for us to be where others have no doubt been before. Thinking “it will be ok” “It is not harming anyone” “I only do it at home” etc. etc. and then found themselves spiralling down into chaos that addiction invariable brings. Look at George Best and Paul Gascoigne with alcohol, Most of the members of the boy bands Boyzone, Blue, Take That and Five to name only a few struggled with either drink or drugs and then there was Mike Atherton with gambling. For all of these I am sure that at one time their lives were at a cross roads and they thought it would never happen to them!
So how did this thing called addiction get such a hold on you?
It could be for a whole load of reasons – to cover up social anxiety, poor self esteem, the pain of a loss etc. etc. and of course it could also be from your past (and yes you may have to revisit it in order to deal with it) but the important thing is, that if you really have had enough and you really want to, you can beat it. You do have a choice and you do have hope. You just need to contact me or someone like me and start on beating the beast of addiction.
So an invitation ………
My name is Jean Watson and I am a Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Coach and my personal style can be summed up as conversational, informative and effective(and a little challenging at times for which I make no apologies as addiction as you well know takes no prisoners) I have studied many different views and techniques surrounding overcoming problem drinking/addiction and as your issues are unique to you I want to take the best of these and work with you to overcome your problem drinking. All you need to provide is not only the motivation to change but also the commitment to see it through even when the going might get tough (plus my fee of £38 per session). My belief is that people may have a problem but that the problem is not them. The real person is in there and just needs to be healed.
I work face to face with clients in Hayward’s Heath Sussex but I am also a verified online counsellor
All I would ask is that you be honest with yourself and with me as whilst you are not yet known to me, you are to your family and friends and all of us would want the very best for you.
